Managing Bayern Munich is less pressure than Real Madrid - Ancelotti
Carlo Ancelotti says the expectations placed upon him at Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich is completely different to those he encountered at his previous club Real Madrid.
Ancelotti, who has won major honours with Juventus, AC Milan, Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain as well as Real Madrid, claims the atmosphere at Bayern is unique and he doesn't feel any pressure.
"I haven't been challenged to win everything," he told Die Welt. "I have to ensure that we are competitive and remain so, and that we're amongst the top clubs in Europe."
Ancelotti led Real Madrid to La Decima, their 10th European Cup, but his inability to retain the trophy the following season led to his dismissal.
"We reached the Champions League semifinals and missed out by a point on winning La Liga," he said. "At Real Madrid, stability means that you must win. Always. That was it for me [in Madrid].
Ancelotti's Real side, which included Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale, demolished Pep Guardiola's Bayern 5-0 on aggregate on the way to sealing the top prize in European football in 2014.
Asked whether Bayern's group of players had enquired about their boss's tactical masterclass in the Champions League semifinals, Ancelotti said: "No, they haven't asked about it. This probably means that that they are all trying to forget about it."
The Italian has been impressed by the structures in place at Bayern and already feels at home in Bavaria.
"Bayern has a really good image and a history rich in tradition," he said. "Most importantly, the club is run by former players, making it rather unique.
"The club isn't in debt, has fantastic sponsors and there's a homely atmosphere. All these factors ensure Bayern's stability. There's a togetherness at the club, which oozes from the team. Everyone always supports each other here.
"I soon found out that the club is like a big family. I used to face my chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge as a player, but when we had a meal together recently in a restaurant, it felt like I was meeting an old friend."
